Udaipur- 19 & 20 August- train to Agra

Udaipur is such a nice place. It is friendly & relatively hassle free. It also has a lake and lots of palaces. Perfect place to chill out and enjoy it. Wehave a busy weekend ahead of us with Agra, so this is perfect...

Thursday- we went to visit the City Palace & various other musems. They were really interesting and we had a funny guide who kept taking the piss out of Claire. We had a really expensive drink in the ari-conditioned cafe as well. Their is still a Maharajah, and the family own lots of hotels in the area. The hotels are really expensive so we just looked- a lot..

We went to the Government museum which was a really odd place. It started out by having these really macabre stuffed animals, and as it progressed around, a room full of really old (from the 8th century) sculptures- which at home would be in the British Museum or somewhere like that- not in a dusty room.. Most odd.

We finished off the day by having a boat trip around the lake & a drink at a terrace bar overlooking the lake.

We also had some tea out- I had fish & chips, which was not the same as the chippy up the road. Lovely day..

Friday- went for a wander around the Palace gardens & watched a cultural show in the evening.

We had a 12 hour train journey to Agra to finish the day off. The train journey went ok- we managed to get a little bit of kip. There was a mouse in the carriage with us & the toilets were foul..

I will upload some photos once we get back to Jaipur..
