Sunday 16 August- Jodphur

We had an early start this morning with a government bus at 8:30. It was another epic journey. It involved massive potholes, children staring at us (even more then normal- they were trying to sell us stuff), and sharing our seats with our bags again (there is no separate baggage storage, and even if there was, we wouldn't use it). In addition to which, Claire got stroked for the last hour of the journey! It wasn't groping but a slight stroking every now & then, which she responded to by trying to wriggle away... I would have slapped his hand like a naughty child but there you go... The journey was better then Fridays, it was very cheap at 110 ruppees and we got dropped off at the right place.
We have a lovely guesthouse which we are booked in to, which has dogs roaming about.
Jodhpur is a fort town, and the fort massively dominates the City. The plan is to visit that tomorrow, as well as the town centre & the markets.
We went to a palace this afternoon. This palace was built in the 1930's & 1940's by one of the Maharahjahs, and part of the building is one of the most luxirious hotels in the world. Non- residents have to spend 2000 ruppees to get in the place, and unfortunately we didn't stay for cocktails- we didn't feel dressed for the occasion... It is ridiculously oestentatious and OTT. We didn't stay long as the only bit which us normal people are allowed in is the museum, which consists of 3 rooms...
Claire isn't feeling great so we are having a quiet evening in the guest house, before doing more tomorrow..
